HEARTS OF DARKNESS: A FILMMAKER'S APOCALYPSE (1991) - RARE VHS SCREENING COPY - NOT FOR SALE This is a genuine SCREENING COPY - a promotional industry copy distributed exclusively to press, critics, film festival juries and industry professionals. Not a retail release. Item is opened but stored in original plastic sleeve. Tape plays perfectly with no tracking issues. ABOUT THE FILM: Directed by Fax Bahr, George Hickenlooper and Eleanor Coppola, this landmark 1991 documentary chronicles the notoriously troubled production of Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now (1979), shot largely in the Philippine jungle. Eleanor Coppola secretly filmed much of what appears on screen during the actual shoot in 1976-1977, resulting in extraordinary footage that was thought lost for over a decade. The film features candid, often shocking interviews with Francis Ford Coppola himself, Martin Sheen (who suffered a near-fatal heart attack during production), Dennis Hopper, Marlon Brando, and others. It won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Informational Programming and is considered one of the greatest making-of documentaries ever produced. Released by Paramount Home Video. COLLECTOR VALUE: Screening copies of 1991 Paramount documentaries are extremely scarce. This particular copy bears the "Screening Copy - Not For Sale" designation making it a genuine collectible for both Apocalypse Now enthusiasts and VHS screener collectors. Similar screeners have sold for $20-35 USD on eBay. This is the rarest version of this documentary available on VHS. CONDITION: Opened. Stored in original plastic sleeve. Tape plays perfectly.
